Pancake fun on offer at Leicester Market

SHROVE Tuesday will be celebrated next week at Leicester Market, when it hosts its annual Pancake Day race in aid of local hospice LOROS.
It will be the fourth year the market has held the event, in which traders, charity staff and city workers pledge donations to LOROS and then take part in a hotly-contested, high-flipping pancake competition.
From 11am outside the Corn Exchange, visitors to the market can sample a tasty pancake for just £1, with plenty of delicious toppings available. Proceeds will go directly to LOROS.
The race kicks off at 1.15pm, when four teams will compete in a relay race, with each runner flipping pancakes around the course.
Children can also enjoy face painting and meet LOROS mascot Lionel the Lion.
Adam Piotrowski, development officer at Leicester Market, said: “This will be a great event for families during the February half-term break. We’ll have lots going on, with food and activities available for all – so we hope to see many people joining us to support a great cause in LOROS, whilst also backing our runners in the main event.
“Already confirmed to compete are teams representing Leicester Market’s traders, LOROS and staff from the nearby Ramada Encore.”
