Child car seat
We offer free advice and guidance on how to transport young children safely.
You can help keep your child safe in the car by following these tips:
- make sure that the seat fits your car as well as your child
- avoid buying a second hand car seat unless you know its history, as it may have been damaged in an accident
- shoulder straps on all seats must be adjusted so that they come up from behind the shoulders, not up the child's back, or from ear height
- remove thick or padded jackets before placing your child into their car seat, so the shoulder straps fit tight to the child. You should not be able to pinch the webbing strap.
