Citizenship ceremonies

Due to coronavirus, the Home Office has allowed some changes to ceremonies. We are now conducting ceremonies face to face which are simplified to comply with restrictions.

This will be the opportunity for you to swear your oath or affirmation and to make your pledge of loyalty. You will also be presented with your certificate on the same day.

Customers would normally be expected to book their citizenship ceremony within three months of being sent an invitation from the Home Office. Due to the current pandemic circumstances UKVI have extended this period to six months and will keep this under constant review. Customers should be advised that no adverse decisions will be made on applications because of delays caused by coronavirus.

Please email the Home Office Citizenship.Support@homeoffice.gov.uk if the above information does not answer your question.

We at Leicester Register Office are not able to assist further.

Have you received an invitation letter from the Home Office?

If you have received your Home Office invitation letter please email: Citizenship-ceremonies@leicester.gov.uk

In the email please include:

  • your full name,
  • your Home Office reference number
  • you contact telephone number
  • whether you wish to swear the oath or say the affirmation (see below with the pledge of loyalty)

A member of staff will contact you once we have received your certificate to arrange a ceremony.
