Standing as a candidate
Before any city council or mayoral election, interested individuals must ensure they meet certain criteria before they are allowed to stand as a candidate.

Candidate and agent briefings
If you are interested in standing as a candidate for the 4 May 2023 elections, we will be hosting two information briefings:
- Nomination process briefing: Tuesday 7 March, 5.30pm
- Count process briefing: Wednesday 12 April 2023, 5.30pm
The briefings will take place at City Hall, 115 Charles Street, Leicester, LE1 1FZ.

Nomination packs will be available from Wednesday 8 March 2023, from the Returning Officer at City Hall, 115 Charles Street, Leicester, LE1 1FZ.
You can also request a pack by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 0116 454 2010.
Where do I submit a nomination?
You must hand in your completed nomination forms for these elections in person to the Returning Officer at:
- 3rd floor, City Hall, 115 Charles Street, Leicester, LE1 1FZ.
- From Wednesday 22 March, between of 9.30am and 4.30pm, until the closing date for nominations, which is 4pm on Tuesday 4 April.

Please contact electoral services either by email email@example.com or by telephone on 0116 454 6350 to make an appointment to have your nomination checked prior to formal submission.
