Great British Insulation Scheme
We are working in partnership with E.ON to offer the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) to eligible Leicester homeowners and private rental tenants. The scheme is for free cavity wall insulation or subsidised loft, room in roof, or underfloor insulation.
Quick links
The GBIS scheme helps Leicester residents to get free or discounted insulation. You do not necessarily have to be on a benefit to qualify, as long as you are in council tax band A-D and your home currently has a low energy rating.
We are working with E.ON to deliver GBIS locally, but you don't need to be an E.ON customer to benefit from the scheme. E.ON will help you through the process of applying, and they will arrange the installation work for you.
Who is eligible for GBIS in Leicester?
You may qualify for GBIS if you are a homeowner with an Energy Performance Certificate rating (EPC) of D to G or rent your home and have an EPC of D or E and answer 'yes' to any of the any of the following:
-

or

Background on the GBIS scheme
The government insulation scheme started out as ECO+, with the aim of helping eligible UK homeowners install home insulation to make their homes more energy efficient with energy-saving improvements. At the heart of the scheme are affordability and comfort, so if you make your home more energy efficient, it will keep a consistent temperature, making it more cost-effective and cosy. The scheme was launched in summer 2023 and will run until March 2026.
