Probably a son of Robert and Elizabeth Harwar of Leic.; was born about 1475, admitted a freeman 1502-3, and was M.P. for the borough in 1520. In 1526 he was master of the gild of Corpus Christi. He married Margaret, daughter of AId. John Wigston (No. 111), by whom he left issue at his death in 1534. By his Will, dated 10 May 1532 and proved in the P.C.C., London, 13 November 1534, he directs that his body is to be buried in St. Martin's church before the image of our lady in the Lady chapel; mentions his brothers, Wm. Harwar, Parson Wigston and Roger Wigston, and appoints his wife Margaret, and his master Wm. Wigston (the founder of the Hospital), as executors. He names his sons, John and Wm., and daughter, Elizabeth Staples. His son, Rev. Wm. Harwar, M.A., sometime vicar of Wolston, co. Warwick, was appointed rector of Glenfield in 1565. Of this family also was the Rev. Nicholas Harwar, master of Wigston's Hospital 1560 to 1567.
