1667 WILLIAM SOUTHWELL, (Fellmonger).

Eldest son of William Southwell of Leic. He was born about 1629, admitted a freeman 1654, elected a member of the common council shortly afterwards, a chamber, lain 1658, an alderman 1664 and mayor for the second time 1682; married and left issue (vide St. Martin's registers). His wife Rosamond, was buried at St. Martin's 28 April 1683 and he himself was buried there 1 January 1711,12, aged eighty,two. Will, dated 13 January 1710, was proved at Leic. 12 January 1711,12. In this record he describes himself as one of the aldermen "being now of great age and infirm," and mentions his sons William, John and Richard.
