Eldest son of AId. Edmund Johnson, mayor in 1693,

and the owner of an estate at Knighton Fields. Like his ancestors he resided in St. Mary's parish. He was baptized at the parish church there 28 April 1674, en, rolled a freeman 3 August 1697, became a councillor 20 September 1697, chamberlain 1700 and an alderman 24 September 1707; married at Stanford on Soar, Notts., in April 1697 Martha Hill of Leic., by whom he had nine children. He was dismissed from the corporation at his own request 9 April 1718 and was buried at St. Mary's 29 December 1727.
