1726 JOHN GUTHERIDGE, (Brazier).

The Gutheridges appear to have migrated from Des~ borough, Northants., and settled at Leic. early in the seventeenth century.

AId. John Gutheridge was the second son of William and Mary Gutheridge of Leic., and was baptized at St. Martin's 20 November 1670, enrolled a freeman 6 June 1698, elected a councillor 10 October 1699, a chamber~ lain in 1713 and later an alderman. By his wife Eliza~ beth, who died in March 1740, buried at St. Martin's, he had several children. His second son, Henry, was mayor in 1763.

AId. Gutheridge was buried at St. Martin's 17 March 1729~30, aged sixty. Will, not dated, was proved at Leic. 24 April 1730.
