Eldest son of AId. Humphrey Chapman, mayor in 1722,

was baptized at St. Mary's 3 February 1697,8, admitted a freeman 1 March 17 21,2, elected a councillor 172 7, a chamberlain 1743 and an alderman 1752; married at Mansfield, Notts., 28 August 1722 Hannah Wilson, but does not appear to have left any issue. He died at his residence in Southgate Street' 20 and was buried at St. Mary's 23 November 1768, aged seventy. M.l. there. His will, bearing date 10 September 1768, was proved at Leic. 24 November following.
