1767 WILLIAM HOLMES, (Druggist).

Parentage not fully established but believed to have been descended from the Holmes' of Peckleton, co. Leic. Born about 1724, admitted free of the borough as a "stranger" by order of the Hall 15 November 1753, elected one of the chamberlains 1757 and an alderman in 1762. His first wife, Mrs. Sarah Holmes, died 26 May 1752, aged thirty,five. Mrs. Ann Holmes nee Turnedg, his second wife, survived him.

Mr. AId. Holmes died 28 March and was buried at St. Margaret's 4 April 1770, aged fifty,six. M.I. there to him and his first wife. Will, dated 23 March 1770, was proved in the P.C.C., London, 6 February 1771.
