Hold on to our hearts this Valentine's Day
On Valentine's Day (14 February), Leicester residents are invited to show their love for the children's heart unit at Glenfield Hospital.
We are setting up a giant Valentine's Day card at the Haymarket Shopping Centre. Measuring 1.8m x 1.2m, the card will be available on the ground floor from 10.30am for anyone to sign and show their support for the congenital heart unit.
Glenfield Hospital Children's Heart Unit is one of the congenital heart disease services under consideration for closure by NHS England. We are supporting the campaign to keep the unit open for Leicester's children and children from surrounding areas.
Glenfield CHU has been incredibly successful, saving young lives for nearly thirty years. Though no decision on closure has been taken yet, it's important we keep the campaign in the public eye. So why not come down to the Haymarket on Valentines Day and show your love for one of our most precious services?
After 14 February, the card will be delivered to Glenfield to volunteers from Heart Link.
NHS England is currently running a public consultation on the future of congenital heart services. Your voice matters, so please take part and have your say.
A public question and answer session will be held on 9 March at Leicester Tigers Stadium from 6-8pm.
