Afrika has been identified as the Cradle of Humanity. Fossil records indicate that human beings
first appeared in Afrika some three and a half million years ago. The first Megalithic (large stone) monuments in the world were raised in Afrika, for instance the Sphinx is dated at least twelve thousand years old.
The Ishango bones are known as the oldest table of prime numbers, discovered on the
shores of Lake Edward in Central Equatorial Afrika. It has been identified as a device used to mark the phases of the moon.It has been dated to be as old as 25 thousand years.
The first Iron mine to be unearthed dates back to 30 thousand years, found in Swaziland, Southern Afrika. During the 13th Century, Mali was known as the richest empire on the planet. Emperor Kankan Musa Malian sailed nine hundred ships across the Atlantic, two hundred years before Columbus.
Imhotep instructed the construction of the first hospital recorded in history, built on an island called Philae in Egypt. He also assisted the construction of the step pyramid at Saqquara, setting the scene for the Great Pyramid at Gizeh.
In 1884 Doctor Felkin witnessed a successful cesarean operation on a laboring mother suffering a breach birth in Uganda. This technique was not successful in Europe until nearly one hundred years later.
