Clinical Waste - Domestic

Clinical waste bag

Local Authorities have been responsible for collecting clinical waste such as medical dressings for many years. These items are only collected from individual households at the request of health trusts, health centres, doctors and district nurses.

Sharps Boxes

The sharps box collection service however, has been introduced to us only recently by the National Health Service. This service is available for patients who self treat at home and the sharps box can only be obtained by prescription.

We arrange to collect a minimum of 5 boxes at a time. When the patient has the minimum number of bins, they are asked to telephone the Waste Management team  0116 216 1908 for a collection date and clinical bag.

If you need to cancel, or stop collections for a while please let us know, or ask your health centre/nurse to contact us.
