By Car

The City of Leicester is 2 hours from London, 2 hours from Manchester and 1 hour from Birmingham by car. 

 

Leicester City centre is easily accessible from the M1 motorway at junctions 21 or 22. 

 

From Birmingham, Wales or the South-West, the M69 and M6 provide access. 

 

With over 8,500 parking spaces available in the city centre, the City of Leicester Register Office is ideally situated.  In many of the streets around the Register Office, there is pay-at-the-meter on-street parking available.

 

Public Car Parks

The multi-story car parks in Leicester City centre are all extremely well signposted and have up-to-date real-time availability clearly shown.

 

Travelling into Leicester from the NORTH (via the A6, A607) follow car parking signs for the Highcross (previously the Shires) car parks in the “NORTH ZONE”.

 

From the EAST (via the A47) follow car parking signs for Dover Street or the new Rutland Centre car parks in the “EAST ZONE”.

 

From the SOUTH (A6, A5199, A426) follow signs for “SOUTH ZONE” parking and head for Newarke Street (Phoenix Theatre), Welford Road, or Rutland Centre car parks.

 

From the WEST (A47) follow “WEST ZONE” car parking signs to Highcross John Lewis car park, Highcross Rooftop (Shires), Castle Park and St. Nicholas Circle car parks.

  

By Train or Coach

 

Leicester Railway Station is also ideally situated, being only few minutes walk from the City centre and the Register Office at Town Hall Square. 

 

Leicester City is on the East Midlands train line running between London St Pancras and South Yorkshire.  Direct trains from London take only 75 minutes.

 

Bus and Coach services arrive at St Margarets Bus Station which is very close to Highcross Leicester.  London to Leicester by coach takes just under 3 hours.
