1. This process only applies to children who are currently in year 2 of an Infant School.
2. Parents may only make one application to include up to three preferences, regardless of whether preferences are for City, County, or Voluntary Aided, Faith or any other schools. All preferences will be processed equally and the higher ranked preference which can be met will be the one offered. All parents applying on time for a Junior place will be notified by second-class post week commencing 7th May 2012.
3. There is no guarantee of a place at your priority area Junior school but, in recent years for a year 3 place at the transfer time, the majority of all applicants have been successful in obtaining a place at their preferred school. To have the best chance of getting a place at your priority area school you must put it as one of your preferences and return your application form by the closing date 30th March 2012 to the School Admission Service.
4. When deciding your preferences you should check:
a) Which Junior school priority area you live in and whether you want to take advantage of the priority and put it as one of your preferences.
b) Whether you have a realistic chance of getting a place at your preferred school if it is not the priority area school. Your application will be ranked lower than those from applicants who live in its priority area. If your preferred school is not a Junior school, there may be very few, or no places.
c) Whether you risk losing your chance of a place at your priority area school if you do not put it as your preference.
d) That all your preferred schools are Junior Schools.
5. For a Junior school, you must return you application form by the closing date of 30th March 2012 . If you miss the deadline, we will only consider your preference after all those which arrived on time, and you will not get a result until later.
6. If, when you get our decision letter, you are unsuccessful, then you will be offered a place at the nearest school with places available. This would include a Primary School if that school is the next nearest one with places available. This school may be some distance away. You will have the right to appeal to an Independent Appeals Panel.
