Inclusion strategy

It is paramount that the needs of a child or a young person are identified as early as possible and that appropriate strategies are in place to meet these needs. We are working in partnership with all members of the community to translate our inclusion strategy into specialist facilities across the city.  There are 3 key objectives for this exercise:

  • the first is that we will retain the specialisms of all our special schools and use these specialisms across the city to raise standards in all our schools;
  • the second is that there will be a central offer of specialist provision in each of the eight localities across the city;
  • the third is that we will ensure that, wherever possible, all the city’s young people are educated within the city’s schools, whatever their needs might be.

This is based on high quality collection and transfer of information.   Collaboration across the whole community is vital if we are to offer effective, value for money provision across the city.
