Secondary Behaviour Support Service

Braunstone Skills Centre

The Secondary Behaviour Support Service (SBSS) works from its four specialist learning centres across Leicester city to support young people who find it difficult to engage in mainstream education. SBSS provides a range of in-school support, advice and guidance, and part-time and full-time provision.

As part of the BSF programme SBSS benefited from upgrades to the ICT infrastructure and resources at The Newry, Carisbrooke and Millgate Lodge Specialist Learning Centres.

Design and technology project creating partnerships between school phases

The Newry Specialist Learning Centre students have completed and installed a major piece of wall art for Mellor Community Primary School.  The Art Wall Project team have been commissioned to make various art wall pieces for Leicester schools, all individually designed to the schools' specifications.  BSF Arts & Culture funding is helping this project to grow.

Stuart Hicking, the teacher leading the project told us 'During the process of making the World Map we nearly mislaid New Zealand and vacuumed up Jamaica, but it all came together in the end!  We can design and make virtually any design, for indoor or outdoor situations.'
