Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
New Parks Community Centre
New Parks community members are making a commemoration quilt that will be displayed in the local area. The quilt will celebrate the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics. The idea is that as many people as possible make a 6inch (15cm) square. You can knit, embroider, applique, crochet, tie dye, screen print or use fabric paints. In fact anything that you want to make your square.
All you need to do is take your square to the Community Centre on St Oswald Road by the end of June 2012, and they will be sewn together and displayed in the Community Centre, the Library and a range of local public buildings.
So come on, get involved!
Pot to Plot
A big well done and thank you to all of those involved in the Pot to Plot community gardening scheme.
The Plot to Pot scheme
has seen an overgrown allotment plot
transformed into a flourishing vegetable
garden. The project has won a Royal
Horticultural Society ‘It’s Your
Neighbourhood’ award for improving the
local area.
Volunteer opportunities are
available on the project all year
round and they plan to run courses soon.
