The Role:
This role of Citizen Reporter – News and Information for Older People is developed through a partnership between Citizens’ Eye Community News Agency, Senior Eye and Leicester Libraries.
It is open to people of any age with an interest in issues concerning older people.
The Aim:
The objective is to use community libraries to collect and share information about your area of Leicester or a subject you are interested in and to make Leicester the best reported city on issues for and about older people.
The reporter would help provide positive, constructive information and stories about Leicester, especially subjects under represented in the mainstream press and those affecting older people.
Work hours are flexible (except for training, see below).
Skills and experience:
A genuine interest in contributing to your local community by getting involved, informing and consulting people about issues concerning older people. A keen interest to get involved in promoting, publicising local community groups and organisations. Be proficient in the language you are reporting in.
Be interested in working and sharing ideas with other people. Be willing to try new activities and technologies and have an interest in and knowledge of reporting on particular subjects.
Training:
Introduction to community media techniques through media projects and involvement in the production of newsletters, magazines, film, photographs, art work and radio. The use of social media such as You Tube, Twitter, Facebook and Flickr in community media.
