The Role:
WOT BOX Volunteer – Working with children and young people to develop media skills
This role is developed through a partnership between Wot Box, The2 Young Person’s News Agency and Leicester Libraries.
At various locations within libraries across the city.
Work hours are flexible, tailored to availability of volunteer.
The Aim:
To support the development of the WOT BOX media projects in libraries and other locations across Leicester. To support the production of local community news from young people. To help to provide a positive environment for young people to enable them to become community reporters and create news content for The2 children’s and Young People’s News agency.
Skills and experience:
An interest in working with young people within their local communities. An understanding of society and children and young people today. A passion to support young people to have a voice. An understanding of the importance of young people’s participation.
Training:
Effective engagement of young people. Introduction to the importance of community media. Access to community media training school. Within this role there will be ongoing opportunities to access training and other additional opportunities.
