Old Humberstone Conservation Area was designated in January 1974, originally with an area of approximately 20.11 hectares. It was extended slightly in 2006, and now covers about 22.61 hectares.
This large conservation area includes old Humberstone village centre, and stretches northwards as far as Gipsy Lane and Thurmaston Lane.
