Publicity for planning applications

The City Council publicises planning applications, usually by writing to neighbours. On some applications, a site notice is displayed or an advertisement is posted in the Leicester Mercury (usually on Wednesdays).

A period of time (normally 21 days) is allowed from the date of publicity, for comments or objections to be made. However, some applications (for instance, for advertisements) can be determined without any formal public consultation period. The letters and publicity will always give a time within which comments can be made.

If you receive a letter about an application near your property, and you are a tenant, please tell your landlord (unless you are a Council tenant) so that he or she can comment.
