Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD)

Under the new plan making system within the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, the Council produces Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs). These documents expand on and give advice on how policies in the local plan – and eventually Local Development Documents (LDD) – can be implemented.

 

 


 

Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG)

The new plan making system includes transitional arrangements that allow for policies of the adopted City of Leicester Local Plan 2006 to be 'saved' until replaced by the LDF Core Strategy or a subsequent Development Plan Document. Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) linked to saved policies will continue to be taken into account as a material consideration in deciding planning applications. They will have a similar purpose to SPDs in elaborating the policies of the Local Plan and will have added weight when prepared in consultation with the public and when the subject of a Council resolution.
