Cank Street's public realm has been improved as part of the Streets + Spaces regeneration project.
Consultation was carried out with local shop owners and the traders group. The scheme has created a much easier route for pedestrians. It mimics the nearby streets where the pink granite has been used whilst having its own distinctive feel. The shiny black strips both help people with poor sight navigating the street and form part of the drainage system.
The work was designed by the Highway and Urban Design sections of the City Council, with City Highways implementing the work; the project was completed in March 2010.
