Granby Street: Horsefair Street to Rutland Street

 

Granby Street is part of the sequence of streets and spaces connecting the Railway Station to the centre of the city. The section of Granby Street between Rutland Street and Horsefair Street was refurbished as part of the Streets + Spaces regeneration project, and was completed by March 2009. The design approach is contemporary whilst respecting and enhancing the historic built environment.


The design:

• creates a simple elegant and un-cluttered streetscape with widened pavements
• provides a contra-flow cycle lane
• provides a street environment that is accessible to everyone
• provides seating and street trees
• extends the regeneration of the city centre along Granby Street to the station.
