Dashera commemorates the Hindu story of the battle between Lord Rama and King Ravana, and the victory of good over evil.
The towering effigy of King Ravana is burnt as the highlight of Dashera celebrations at Cossington Street Recreation Ground.
The festivities include children’s funfair rides, a live stage programme and a spectacular firework display.
