Reverend Robert Hall

This statue in Sicilian marble, standing on a high Cornish granite pedestal, was unveiled on 2 November 1871 by the sculptor, John Birnie Philip. It stands in De Montfort Square, and is listed grade 2.

 

The Reverend Robert Hall (1764-1831), Baptist divine, was born at Arnesby, Leicestershire, the son of a Baptist minister. He became an influential preacher and was renowned for his eloquence. He was minister of the Harvey Lane Baptist Chapel between 1807 and 1825.
