The Leicester and Leicestershire Photographic Society

The Leicester and Leicestershire Photographic Society is one of the oldest photographic societies in the UK. The inaugural meeting was held in the Mayor's Parlour at the Old Town Hall (now the Guildhall) on the evening of 14th October 1885.

Over the years, the society has provided an important venue for local amateur photographers to show and discuss their work, as technology has progressed from photographic plates to celluloid film, monochrome to colour, and now to the new and exciting era of digital photography.
