New Acquisition
New Acquisition: ‘Iguanagone’ by Frank Bowling OBE, RA.
Gallery 6
,
New Walk Museum & Art Gallery
Frank Bowling is known for his colourful and large scale abstract acrylic paintings, a graduate from Royal College of Art, London, in the famous class of 1962, which included David Hockney, Derek Boshier and Peter Phillips.
Richly textured and playfully titled, Iguanagone’s glowing colours convey a feel of sunlit old walls and undiscovered island places.
Purchased from Rollo Contemporary Art, London. Purchase supported by the MLA/V&A Purchase Grant Fund, the Art Fund and the City of Leicester Museums Trust.
