Leicester City Council provides social care services for adults and older people in the city.
Our aim is to arrange personal care services, and support people to arrange their own support, that will enable people to live independently in their own home for as long as they want or are able to.

We work closely with other council services, NHS Leicester City and with many voluntary and private organisations in the city to support a wide range of people to enable them to have more choice and control over their lives and be more independent, including:
- older people;
- people with physical and/or sensory disabilities;
- people with learning disabilities;
- people with mental health difficulties;
- people with HIV/AIDS;
- people with drug or alcohol problems;
- people with a long-term or terminal illness;
- those caring for any of these groups.

We have to work within the resources available to us each year. Services need to reach those people who are most in need through disability, illness or who may be without the support of families, friends or neighbours.
So assessment of need forms part of our response to requests for assistance.
Our services range from offering advice to arranging care services at home, within other family units or in day or residential care. We also support carers of all ages who look after adults and children with personal care needs.
