Police and crime commissioner elections 2024
Police and crime commissioners elections in England and Wales will be held on Thursday 2 May 2024.
Leicester City Council is the lead authority for the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland police area, which is covered by nine local authorities:
- Blaby District Council
- Charnwood Borough Council
- Harborough District Council
- Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council
- Leicester City Council
- Melton Borough Council
- North West Leicestershire District Council
- Oadby and Wigston Borough Council
- Rutland County Council
Voting method
For the first time in their history, these elections will use the first past the post voting method on Thursday 2 May 2024.
Each local authority will count their own votes and provide their figures to Leicester City Council. Once all the results are collated, we will declare who is elected as police and crime commissioner for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and this web page will be updated with the result.
Please remember that you must be registered to vote and bring a valid form of ID with you on the day.

The period for accepting nominations to stand as a candidate in the police and crime commissioner election has now closed. Here are the candidates standing for election:

Police area returning officer and the nomination process
The police area returning officer for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland is Alison Greenhill. She is responsible for administering the election, along with eight other local returning officers in the police area.
Nominations to stand for election as a candidate for the PCC election were accepted by the police area returning officer at City Hall, Leicester City Council, 115 Charles Street, Leicester, LE1 1FZ between 10am and 4pm from Wednesday 27 March until close of nominations at 4pm on Friday 5 April.
Completed nomination forms together with the required deposit must have been submitted in person to the police area returning officer at the address and times stated above.
