On Thursday 5th May 2011, Leicester residents voted in Peter Soulsby as our new city mayor, who'll lead the city for four years.
He has appointed Rory Palmer as his deputy, and the following councillors as assistant city mayor:
- Ted Cassidy
- Piara Singh Clair
- Mohammed Dawood
- Vi Dempster
- Sarah Russell
- Manjula Sood.

This year's polling day was our biggest ever as the city went to the polls to elect a mayor and vote for their local ward councillor.
There was also a referendum for an Alternative Voting (A.V.) system to be possibly introduced for the next General Election. Plus a Parliamentary By-election for Leicester South.

We have 54 Councillors representing 22 Wards across the city.
Our council is composed of 52 Labour Councillors, 1 Conservative Councillor and 1 Liberal Democrat Councillor. A poster showing all Councillors can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
