Peter Soulsby in office
Peter Soulsby in office

On Thursday 5th May 2011, Leicester residents voted in Peter Soulsby as our new city mayor, who'll lead the city for four years.

He has appointed Rory Palmer as his deputy and the following councillors as assistant city mayor:

  • Piara Singh Clair
  • Andy Connelly
  • Vi Dempster
  • Sarah Russell
  • Rita Patel
  • Manjula Sood.

See the full city mayor result here.

The polling day was our biggest ever as the city went to the polls to elect a mayor and vote for their local ward councillor.

There was also a referendum for an Alternative Voting (A.V.) system to be possibly introduced for the next General Election. Plus a Parliamentary By-election for Leicester South.

You can see all our election results here.
