How can I foster? The first step is simply to talk to us. We have one of the largest fostering and adoption services in the East Midlands. Each year we help dozens of people in all areas of Leicester and Leicestershire to become new families for local children of all ages.

Do something amazing

If you would like to be doing something amazing this year, why not start by contacting our fostering team? You are invited to meet our friendly advisors and foster carers at one of our popular events.

Each year nearly 500 children stay with foster families in Leicester. This can be for a few weeks at a time or for several years. Children come from all communities and range from new-born babies to young teenagers. Sometimes brothers and sisters need a home where they can stay together. Disabled children can need short breaks for one weekend a month or more permanent care.

To find out how you can become a foster carer and change a child's life, come to one of our drop in sessions which are mentioned below. No need to book. You can also find event details on our Facebook page which is linked above.

How much do our carers earn?

We have a tiered payment scheme that reflects the age of the child you foster as well the skills and experience you bring to fostering. There are additional generous payments for carers for children aged over eleven as well as carers for siblings. We also provide extra financial support for a range of activities as well as for birthdays, holidays, celebrations, etc.

Our Leisure Fund can cover additional expenses relating to children’s hobbies, and sporting, cultural or educational activities. We also provide all the equipment you need to get started. Contact us for full details.
