All vans/pick-ups and trailers over 1.4m long will need a Permit to use the Freeman Common Community Recycling Centre.

Permits will only be issued to city residents.

For Health and Safety reasons permits can no longer be issued for Bridge Road Recycling Centre.
The Permit System is designed to stop non-household materials being disposed of at these sites.
How do I get a Permit?
If you live in the city you can apply for a Permit by telephone, or fax between 9.30am and 4.00pm Monday-Friday (number is below) or Apply for your permit online

Note: If you live in the county and need a permit to tip household waste please contact Leicestershire County Council on 0116 305 0001.
Construction Materials Limits
There will be the following limits on the amount of Construction Materials per Permit:
- 6 bags/sacks of soil or rubble (typically 25 kg maximum)
- 4 windows
- 4 doors
- 4 kitchen units
- 1 bathroom suite
Asbestos must be double wrapped and limited to 8 sheets per visit.
Amounts greater than these will need either a hired skip or to be taken to a private Waste Transfer Station.

There are commercial waste transfer stations located in and around the city where you can take your own materials. Please note, a charge is made for this service.
