The Highway Maintenance Section is responsible for maintaining the highway and watercourse infrastructure in a clean, tidy, safe and operationally efficient condition. This includes the management and maintenance of highways, street lighting and festive decorations.
In response to abnormal damage to city roads, caused by the severe weather over the 2010/11 winter, the Department for Transport (DfT) has provided exceptional funding for road maintenance in 2011.
