Mods: Shaping a Generation exhibition (13 April to 30 June)
The Mods: Shaping a Generation exhibition aims to tell the story of the 1960’s Mod scene in Leicester and Nottingham. The exhibition will look into how they were connected with focus on social, financial and the creative freedom through exclusive first-hand eye witness accounts, archive material and images.

New Walk Museum and Art Gallery originated in 1849 when the Literary and Philosophical Society formally presented to the town its various collections, which have grown and developed over the last 170 years into one of the premier museums in the region. On the ground floor of the museum, visitors can enjoy galleries including Dinosaurs, Wild Space, The Den gallery for the under 5s, the Victorian art gallery, Arts and Crafts gallery, Picasso Ceramics: The Attenborough Collection and modern and contemporary art displays. The first floor galleries include Life and Death in Ancient Egypt, World Arts and Leicester's internationally renowned collection of German Expressionism. The museum also offers a range of temporary exhibitions and events from children’s craft activities to lunchtime concerts.

- New Walk Museum and Art Gallery is approximately ten minutes walk from Leicester City Centre and Leicester train station and accessed along the pedestrianised New Walk
- Changing places toilet.
New Walk Museum and Art Gallery has full access for disabled visitors with a lift to the first floor galleries and an accessible toilet. Please note Gallery 6 has a small stage area for step access only. There is provision for two parking bays for Blue Badge holders in the museum car park. The museum also has available a wheelchair for loan during the visit to the museum (please contact the museum in advance to ensure availability). The museum offers a changing places toilet facility, a height-adjustable adult-sized changing bench, a ceiling track hoist, and plenty of space for carers.
