Extra park and ride services throughout December
Published on 24 November 2017
LEICESTER’S Park and Ride services will be running on every Sunday in December, making it easier for people to enjoy everything the city centre has to offer this Christmas.
The extra services will be running on all five Sundays in December – including Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve – as well as on Boxing Day. On those days (December 3, 10, 17, 24, 26 and 31), buses will be running every 15 minutes between 10am and 5.30pm from the sites at Meynell’s Gorse, Enderby and Birstall.
The additional services mean that Leicester Park and Ride will be operating every day in December except Christmas Day. The service is not running on New Year’s Day and normal service pattern resumes on Tuesday 2 January.
Return fares to the city centre cost just £4 per car (up to five people).
More details of the additional services, festive timetables and fares are available from the Leicester Park and Ride website at www.choosehowyoumove.co.uk
“It’s a good time to crack on with your Christmas shopping, but it’s also a chance to enjoy the festive atmosphere and all the Christmas activities that will be taking place in the city centre.
“These extra Park and Ride services will make it easier for families to enjoy a Sunday visit to a Christmas craft fair or a spin on the Wheel of Light, without the hassle of looking for a parking place in the city centre.
“And if you’ve never used Park and Ride in Leicester before, this is a good opportunity to try the services out and discover just how convenient they are.”
Cllr Pam Posnett, Leicestershire County Council cabinet member for passenger transport, said: “Leicester Park and Ride services are the perfect way to travel into the city centre to make the most of the festive season. Whether it’s for a shopping trip, a day out with the family, visiting the Big Wheel and ice rink in Jubilee Square or just relaxing with friends, the extra services throughout December will make it easier.
“Park and Ride is already a great value way to travel into the city. I would encourage everyone planning trips into the city centre to leave their cars at one of our three Park and Ride sites and take the bus instead.”
