Call for boat owners to join Riverside Festival
Published on 30 April 2018
CANAL boat owners are being encouraged to bring their vessels to this year’s Riverside Festival.
The event, which takes place along the River Soar’s Mile Straight, Bede Park and Castle Gardens on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3, is the city’s largest free family-friendly festival, offering two fun-packed days of activities on and off the water.
Part of what makes this stretch of the River Soar come alive are the scores of colourful narrow boats and vessels of all shapes and sizes, which take part, bringing with them the charm and character of the waterways.
Festival organisers are encouraging people with boats to bring them along – with free mooring on offer to all non-commercial boats. There will also be round-the-clock security on duty along the riverside.
The river will also feature a floating tea shop, dragon boat racing, trade boats, floating jazz band and much more.
In addition to the Riverside Festival’s packed programme of live entertainment, street market, craft stalls and other attractions, for the first time this year the festival will also include the ‘Art on the River’ exhibition by local artists, and swing dancing.
Boat owners wanting to bring their boats should register by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org
