Information for schools
Schools and colleges have a responsibility to secure careers guidance for their students. We are responsible for the transition to further learning.
This page has information about these responsibilities and how Connexions works with schools to meet the needs of students.
Independent careers guidance
Schools have had the statutory responsibility for securing access to impartial careers guidance for every pupil in years 8-13. Statutory guidance relating to this responsibility can be found in the Careers Guidance and Inspiration attachments at the bottom of this page.
Responsibilities of local authorities
Local authorities retain responsibility for ensuring the successful transition of all young people into further learning and have a particular responsibility for ‘vulnerable’ young people. This includes those with learning difficulties and disabilities and those at risk of being not in education, employment or training (NEET). Connexions Leicester City fulfils these responsibilities in Leicester.
