Women in Construction

We offer free taster sessions for women aged 15 and over who are interested in finding out more about work in craft trades and gaining hands-on experience.

  • bricklaying
  • carpentry
  • plastering
  • plumbing
  • electrics
  • painting and decorating.

Qualified tradeswomen have the potential to earn up to £370 a week.

When and where are the courses held?

The women-only courses run during the Easter school holidays; you can attend as many days as you wish to.

The courses are held at Leicester College's Freemen’s Park campus (in the construction department). You can find out the location details using the quick link above.

The course for 2017 runs from 10 April – 21 April (excluding bank holidays).

In order to register for the course please complete the attached registration form or attend one of the following open days

  • Thursday 23rd March 9am-2pm – Abbey Park campus
  • Tuesday 28th March 11am-4pm – St Margarets campus
  • Wednesday 5th April 2pm-7pm – Freemans Park campus

Visits to schools and community centres

We are working with local schools and communities to help inform women about the diverse roles on offer on our apprenticeship programme.

A team of qualified tradeswomen is available to visit your school or community centre to discuss the programme, and give a presentation and demonstration to teachers, career advisors and young female students.
