Private Hire and Hackney carriages – before you book

Please ensure you do not book your appointment more than two weeks before the expiry/due date of your existing certificate.

Please note that if the vehicles licence has been suspended or revoked, you must call the test centre on 0116 229 2565, to book your test.

If you provide any incorrect or false information, i.e. vehicle colour, age, or type we will be unable to carry out the inspection, and you will still be charged. 

Amendments and cancellations

Please note you must provide 48 hours’ notice for any amendments or cancellations, failure to do so will result in the appointment being missed, and you will still be charged.

You can make amendments online, up to 48 hours before your appointment slot, by going to our bookings page and clicking on “My Bookings”.

All cancellations must be made over the phone, by calling 0116 229 2565. 

On the day

Please bring the V5 logbook or New owners green slip along with the vehicle.

You must arrive at your allocated appointment time, if you arrive late you may lose your appointment and your fee.

Ensure the vehicle is clean, both inside and out so all areas of the vehicle can be tested fully.

Ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and has plenty of fuel, oil, and water so the test can be carried out.

Further testing

If the vehicle fails to meet the required standards and a re-inspection is necessary, a further fee will be charged.
