National Smile Month

National Smile Month is a charity campaign set up by the Oral Health Foundation running from 13 May to 13 June 2024, that aims to promote good oral health and promoting the value of a healthy smile.

Our smile is one of our best assets, that’s why it’s important to give it the best care possible. This year’s campaign will run under the theme “Love Your Smile”. By learning more about how to achieve a healthy mouth, we can keep our teeth for life whilst protecting ourselves from other diseases.

In Leicester, we also believe that everyone deserves a healthy smile, as a person’s oral health is a crucial part of their overall wellbeing.

Once again, our Healthy Teeth & Happy Smiles team will be working with organisations across the city to promote four key messages for encouraging healthier habits, that can improve a child’s quality of life and have a smile they can feel confident with.

The key four messages of National Smile Month are:

  1. Brush teeth for two minutes, last thing at night and one other time during the day, with a fluoride toothpaste
  2. Clean between your teeth every day
  3. Cut down how much and how often you have sugary foods and drinks
  4. Visit the dentist regularly

Our activity pack is available to download at the top of this page for young children with activities and oral health advice. The pack includes tips, tricks, fun facts, puzzles and more!

You can also find more information including weekly tips on how to brush for better health on the Live Well Leicester social media X and Facebook pages and the Oral Health Foundation website.
