Register to vote

The deadline to register to vote at the general elections is Tuesday 26 November 2019.

The easiest way to register to vote is online at GOV.UK. If you can't get online, you can call us on 0116 454 2000. Alternatively, registration forms are available from all our customer service centres.

Postal and proxy votes

The deadline to apply for a postal vote is Tuesday 26 November, 5pm.

Deadline for receiving new postal proxy applications and for changes to existing postal or proxy vote is Tuesday 26 November, 5pm.

For new applications to vote by proxy (not postal proxy or emergency proxies), the deadline is 4 December, 4pm.

If you have applied and registered for a postal vote, the dates below outline when we will be aiming to dispatch your postal vote.

Overseas addresses only

  • Postal vote application submitted and received by 7 November 2019
  • Dispatch on or around: 19 November 2019

All other electors - UK addresses

  • Postal vote application submitted and received by 7 November 2019
  • Dispatch on or around: 26 November 2019

All addresses - UK and overseas

  • Postal vote application submitted and received by 12 November 2019
  • Dispatch on or around: 26 November 2019

All addresses – UK and overseas

  • Postal vote application submitted and received by 26 November 2019
  • Dispatch on or around: 3 December 2019
