May 2023 elections

On Thursday 4 May 2023, you will have the opportunity to have your say in ward and mayoral elections. Polling stations will be open 7am to 10pm.

Voter identification 

At the upcoming elections on 4 May 2023, you must show an accepted form of photographic ID at the polling station in order to vote. Find out more about voter ID requirements.

Register to vote

To vote in the May elections, you will need to register by Monday 17 April 2023. Find out how to register.

Voting by post

The deadline to apply for a postal vote at this election is 5pm on Tuesday 18 April 2023.

Voting by proxy

The deadline to apply for a proxy vote at this election 5pm on Tuesday 25 April 2023.

Poll cards

Poll cards will be sent to registered voters following the publication of the Notice of Election on 22 March 2023. 

If you have not received a poll card, it could mean that you are not registered to vote. Please contact us through our helpline 0116 454 2000 if you believe you are registered, otherwise register to vote using the link above.
