Gypsy and Traveller sites in Leicester

Leicester has three permanent Gypsy and Traveller sites in Leicester, at Meynell’s Gorse, Redhill Nook and Greengate Nook which have a total of 37 spaces for families. There is currently a long waiting list for pitches.

Some of the families have lived in or around Leicester area for generations and spend most, if not all of the year, in the area. Some have children in local schools and are registered with local GPs.

Each pitch has space for up to two caravans and parking. There is also an amenity block for day use that has fully fitted kitchens, bathrooms and a living area. All pitches have separate electric and water supplies and refuse collection. Electric hook-up and mains sewerage connection points are also located on each pitch. Site residents are responsible for paying pitch fees, as well as electricity, water and council tax bills.
