Starting secondary school
Information for parents and carers of children transferring from primary or junior school (Year 6) to secondary school (Year 7), starting in autumn 2025.
For children born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014.
You can now apply for a secondary school place to start in autumn 2025. The application window opened on Monday 2 September 2024.

Before submitting your application, it is important to find out as much information you can about the secondary schools in your area as well as any secondary schools you are thinking of applying for, to ensure you make the right choice for your child.

Applications will close at midnight on Thursday 31 October 2024. All applications received after this date are treated as late. They will be dealt with after those received on time, and you are less likely to be offered a place at your preferred schools.
Please note: All school preferences submitted between 2 September and 31 October will be given equal consideration according to the schools' admission criteria. School places will not be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
