Walking in Leicester
We aim to encourage people to walk by introducing walking to school projects and community walking projects.
We are proud to say that a higher percentage of people walk to work in Leicester than in London, and we are keen to make that number grow.
We have received government funding for a number of schemes which promote walking in our city - a 'walk to school' scheme aimed at young people, and a summer walks initiative, where we encourage people to walk more every day.
There are a number of other ways we encourage people to get walking around Leicester.
Walk Leicester Festival
The Walk Leicester Festival takes place in May during National Walking Month. The Choose How You Move team partners with local organisations to bring you a month-long schedule of group walks and walking events. Whether you're a seasoned walker, new to walking, or looking for a fun activity to do with your kids, there's something for everyone.
From guided tours of the city's historical landmarks to nature walks through picturesque parks, we have something to suit all interests and abilities. Walk Leicester Festival information is available on the Choose How You Move website. Alternatively, call 0116 373 7589.
